My Story

Thanks for supporting the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

The team covers around 500km2 of the Peak District National Park and is on call 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. On average, we attend around 120 call-outs per year, which is rising year on year.

All our call-outs are different; these range from helping people who have injured themselves while out and about on the hills, to assisting the police and other agencies in looking for missing people.    

We have just over 60 active and 15 support team members. We are a 100% voluntary organisation with no paid members of staff. The team receives no central funding for the work that we do.  To maintain the team operationally costs just over £50,000 per year.

We will use the money raised from the Great North Swim keep our stock of first aid equipment replenished, which costs around £2,500 per year. 

We have 5 participants taking part in the event, and it would be great if you could help them each reach, or exceed, their individual target.
